WEBFoot Custom
Calls - Custom Jigs and Public Jigs!
These jigs are made from hardened tool steel.
The jigs are setup for the proper bore size, and then hardened. Once the
jigs are hardened to 50-55 RC, the mapped profile from the prototype is
plugged into the computer, (measurements on an X -Y grid),
and a machine that cuts hardened steel (accurately to tolerances as tight as .0001")
machines the ramp from the the raw block of hardened steel. The end results are
amazing. Once the custom jig is cut, a measurement for the depth of your
sound channel is scribed on the side and top of the jig with a carbide or
diamond scribe. This scribe mark helps you to get the proper tone
channel length every time. The best advantage of WEBFoot Custom Jig
making service is that the process
does not damage the original prototype.
The WEBFoot Public Offering jig
is great, a bit more ducky and squeaky for competition style calls, but that
is on purpose because it is a simple change to eliminate some of that
squeakiness.
WEBFoot Custom Calls was the first to bring custom jigs in
the affordable price range, and still going strong! My machinist and I
were able to work out some kinks and make things much easier and faster for him,
therefore allowing me some price breaks - especially on the Public Jigs.
Maybe you can get it for less, but it wont be the best.
Here at WEBFoot, I personally (with over 20 years of soundboard experience) map the soundboard, each side of the ramp, at
least two times, and often times more if there are inconsistencies in the
prototype. The ramps are then compared, mathematical formulas are
applied, and the end result is the best representation possible of the
prototype. Most places just take one pass measuring it, and make the CAD
file, and that just doesn't do justice to the sound produced by the jig.
Do it once, do it right, choose WEBFoot for your Custom Jig Needs.

NOTICE!!!
I WILL NOT copy someone else's toneboard
for anyone other than the originator of that toneboard. DO NOT send me
someone else's tone board to copy for you. If you do, and I find out,
you will be charged for any work performed up to the point that the
infringement is discovered and WILL NOT receive a jig. A refund for the
remaining balance and the prototype will be returned less shipping charges.
This includes measuring,
mapping, digitizing, converting to CAD/CAM format, and cutting the jig to
match the prototype keg/insert that is sent in.
PLEASE be sure to
have as level and even (symmetrical and parallel) tone board as possible.
I take two measurements
multiple times,
on each side of the tone channel, and then I calculate them for the
CAD file. Any variation from side to side will create inconsistencies in
the end product. This is the best I can do with any tone board that
is not symmetrical from side to side. If you have a side you would
prefer the mapping be done from and the "averaging" process not be
done, you must notify me prior to the jig CAD file being made. The
more precise your sample, the better the jig... Don't trust the jig
making process to just anyone, trust WEBFoot. Turn around time on a
custom jig is usually 3-6 weeks.

Flat Jig:
$80.00
The Jig has a
.6250" bore and uses cork that is ~.1650 -
.1750" Thick.
This jig is a handy tool for designing your own town board.
Much like a public jig, which acts as a guide to get you to a starting point,
the flat jig backs up one step. The flat jig has only a cork notch and a
flat tone board. This allows you to have repeatable cork notches and
soundboard height while trying to design your own tone board. You can
also use this jig to create the flat tone board you would need for building a
curved reed call. One of the older and more historic ways of making a call
was to have a flat tone board and "curl" the reed to create the reed to board
clearance for air flow. This is an excellent way to get that perfectly
flat tone board. The standard overall length of the jig is ~1.930" with
a 1.730 toneboard (from back of cork notch to tip)
A NEW addition to the Flat Jig!! There are now 4
tapped holes on the bottom of the jig. The intended purpose of these
tapped holes (1/4-20 thread) is that one can use the two outside holes to
mount the jig to something solid like the edge of a work bench or pedestal.
The other two threaded holes are along the bore, one close to the cork notch
and one towards the tip. These also take 1/4"-20 threads. These
holes allow you to thread a bolt or set screw through the bottom, and to
gently push up on the insert in different spots, to adjust where your base
line is - for example if you were making an upslope reed design, you would
want to thread in on the tip and push the tip up just a little. I hope
you find this to be a handy little addition to the Flat Jig.
11 - standard flat jigs on hand
1 - longer jig is
available its overall length is 2.015" with a 1.815" long soundboard

Public
Offering Jig:
$110.00
The Jig has a
.6250" bore and uses cork that
is ~.1650 -.1750"
Thick.
The tone board this jig produces is by far better than most
'generic' jigs you will find, as reported to me by many customers. Many
people don't understand the intricacies of developing a quality tone board or
don't take the time to do it properly. Some just
copy what they have
seen thinking they know it all, and are just in it to make a buck - cheaper is
not always better. The public offering jig is a production version and
each one is just like the other, it is not custom in any way other than I
built the jig and customized it specifically for reproduction. The
public offering version will be not only a good starting point for your own
soundboards, but it will also be of a quality that I would personally sell
calls made from that jig - though I would tune them a bit to fit my personal
tastes. There will be a light scribe line of both sides of the jig.
This scribe line is a starting point for you to reference when locating the
end of your tone channel. It is not a "set in stone" dimension, only a
guide to help you get started. A NEW addition to the

PLEASE NOTE:
If you want "in line" for a jig when I am out of
stock, it is best to send the order in, and I will ship out as soon as I have
jigs on hand. I ship out jigs in the order in which the orders
were received. I receive tons of emails every day including ones
requesting me to email them when I have more jigs in. With so many
emails coming in I am worried that I will forget to email back. On top
of that, when I get some jigs in, and after I have shipped out the orders
already received, there is a strong possibility that I could sell out before
your order gets here. - Thanks!

Shipping and
Insurance
*Shipping and insurance are not included. When your
new jig is shipped out to you, it is wrapped in a protective wrapper (to prevent rust
and damage), packaged with the original keg, and shipped either USPS Priority mail, with a deliver confirmation and the corresponding
insurance for the call and jig, or UPS with the same insurance. I don't
charge extra for S&H, I charge what it costs. So on one jig, expect
in the neighborhood of $6.55 to $9.00 for priority mail, including Delivery
Confirmation, $2.30 for the first 100.00 insurance, and $1.050 per additional
$100.00 of insurance. These are USPS rates, and not marked up. UPS
rates getting packages picked up. If you choose to not
have delivery confirmation and insurance, all losses are your responsibility,
and WEBFoot will NOT
be responsible for replacement of the lost or damaged goods.
When you are sending your call prototype to me for mapping,
I suggest that you insure it for its value to you. If the Post Office or
UPS should loose it, you are out everything it took to get that call made,
make sure you will get reimbursed for your time.
