We need the Serial number (L####) or name and date on the jig to verify the correct file to make a duplicate jig.
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE:
We will need the serial number (Lxxxx) and date code from the back of your jig (particularly important if you have more than one jig with us). If your jig does not have a date code or serial number, we will have to do some digging to see if your jig is still in our archives. Its best to touch base with us prior to purchasing this item so that we can verify that we have the needed information on file and can verify there are not any other costs or complications.
You will choose the same options above, for a duplicate jig, as you did when you ordered your original jig. If you are unsure what you ordered previously, feel free to email us. You can also check your order history on the site, and see if that information is with your original order.
Turn around time - if the jig blank you need is in stock:
Estimated turn-around time is the same as a regular custom jig, 4-8 weeks - but usually faster. We suggest you PLAN ON 8 WEEKS during
busy times of the year (summer and early fall) and be pleasantly
surprised if its faster. Please don't email and ask what our turn
around time is, or how things are going, or how much longer we think it
might be. If we have questions or issues, we will contact you. The
last thing we do, is verify everything, if it comes out, we are done.
If it doesn't, we start over from scratch - so we wont know when it's
done, til it's done... and at that point, it will be done so it will be
ready to pack and ship. We would rather spend our time working on jobs
than typing emails. :D
Alterations may be made to the duplicate, in terms of locating the board on the blank. Raising/Lowering deck height, Making the pedestal longer, alterations to the cork notch, etc... Time consuming alterations may incur additional costs.
For more in-depth explanations of the question below, please see the Custom Duck Jig item page or better yet read the Articles on custom jigs here. If you do not know the answers to any of the questions in relation to your original jig, please contacts PRIOR to placing the order on the website.
1.) Length of your sound board from tip to back of cork notch. You will need to know this to select the proper option above when paying.
This is the dimension from the back of the cork notch to the tip of the tone board. The maximum tone board length that will fit our standard pre-prepped blanks is 2.200". Tone boards that are 1.800" - 2.200" have a slightly increased cost to cover the additional time required.
2.) Desired jig blank bore diameter (if our standard blank with a bore of .624-.626" is not an acceptable size). This will need to be specified.
95% or more of the jigs we have made that are out there were made from our "standard blank".
3.) Not Applicable for Duplicate jigs.
4.) Do you want to locate off of the back of the jig? This option is added "just in case" one may want a replacement/additional spacer or if you changed to using a shoulder style keg and want a spacer to go with the jig. You will need do one of the following: 1.) Let us know what dimension your original spacer was. 2.) Tell us what dimension you want your spacer made to. 3.) Send a prototype that was made from your current jig that has the proper location so that we can make the spacer based off of that keg (ie you send an example and we figure out what the spacer needs to be).
We suggest you ONLY use a spacer between the shoulder of the keg and the jig for locating the depth of the keg into the jig - and it is NOT to be used with a taper lock/locate style keg.
5.) Not Applicable for Duplicate jigs. If you are wishing to change the deck height from your original jig, this is considered an alteration and you will need to email us in advance to verify pricing before placing the order.
6.) Do you intend on using the jig for adding grooves in the tone board (commonly called 'spit grooves') using a mill or drill press and the jig as a holding fixture when doing so?
Jig blanks used for this method of adding grooves are more accurately centered side to side so that either side can be used along the guide/fence
7.)
Optional #10-24 setscrew with 0.125" center line spacing? (Typically
this is something we would identify and notify you - if you suspect it
will be needed you may wish to email us prior to making a payment)
7.) Alterations: Any changes you wish to be incorporated into your new duplicate jig.
Please email us prior to placing the order on the website if you desire any modifications to your duplicate jig. This will allow us to verify the alteration, discuss it if needed, and determine pricing for the alteration. Tone board surface alterations or any mapping is NOT included in alterations - if you require actual tone board alterations, it is most likely going to require a new custom jig.
***ORIGINALITY NOTICE***
WE WILL NOT duplicate someone else's jig for anyone other than the originator of that tone board.
Remember, do not sand, grind, or use carbide tools on the jig unless you are purposefully trying to alter the shape. Jigs are designed to withstand normal steel cutting tools such as files and saws. Do not use a hammer on any hardened part or tool as it may fracture and cause injury.
